Odorization Stations Section

Development of odorization stations started in 1985 in Plynoprojekt Praha - a purpose company within the concern responsible for development, design, and manufacturing of technological equipment for the Czechoslovak gas industry. Its department in Brno successfully dealt for example with development and production of equipment for LPE pipes welding, compression equipment for plastic pipelines, equipment for trenchless pipelaying, membrane and plunger dosing pumps, heating gases odorization equipment, units for methanol injection into underground storages, and other gas equipment. Once Plynoprojekt was incorporated into GridServices, the center has been organized as "Odorization Stations Section".

Today, the Section manufactures and supplies:

  • Membrane dosing pumps DC 06 with the capacity of 0.6 l/hour for odorizing agent injection.
  • Membrane dosing pumps DC 041 with the capacity of 2.28 l/hour for odorizing agent and methanol injection.
  • Plunger high pressure pumps with the capacity of 12.5 l/hour for methanol and ethanol injection.
  • Odorization stations
  • Methanol and ethanol injection units for underground gas storages
  • Trenchless horizontal pipelaying equipment PZ 65 and PZ 200 including accessories.
  • Compression equipment for LPE pipes
  • Detection drilling carriages NZ 1 for gas leak localization

The Section further provides:

  • Servicing and calibration of equipment for welding of LPE pipes, type HSS 90225 and TSP 2590
  • Servicing and repairs of odorization stations for GridServices, s.r.o., JMP DS, s.r.o., Pražská plynárenská, a.s., E.ON Česká republika, s.r.o., ČEPRO, a.s. and LAMA GAS & OIL s.r.o. There are 96 odorization stations in operation.
  • Servicing and repairs of methanol and ethanol injection units on operating wells of underground gas storages for company innogy Gas Storage, s.r.o. There are 213 units in operation on underground gas storages Dolní Dunajovice, Tvrdonice, Štramberk, and Třanovice.
  • For the odorization stations and methanol injection units, the Section provides adaptations and upgrades according to newly issued standards and regulations.

Odorization stations

Odorization station MOS 5

Odorization station MOS 5 is delivered in a stainless steel cabinet. It is equipped with a DC 06 dosing pump with dose control sensor, 80 l storage tank with 100 l sump pit, liquid seal and adsorption apparatus with active carbon for capturing the smell of the odorant, optical position indicator for checking the odorant dosing, continuous level sensors for measuring the amount of odorant in the storage tank, injection equipment with check valves and a drip free device for the pumping odorant from 200 l transport drums by pressurized nitrogen. The odorization station is controlled by OD 4 control unit, which can be placed directly at theodorization station, or in the regulation and measurement room of the regulation station.

Odorization station MOS 6

Odorization station MOS 6 designed for internal use. Odorization station MOS 7

Mobile odorization station MOS 7 is supplied without stainless case and is designed for mobile use depending on operational needs. It is equipped with a DC 041 dosing pump with dose control sensor, 50 l storage tank with 80 l sump pit, liquid seal and adsorption apparatus with active carbon for capturing the smell of the odorant, optical position indicator for checking the odorant dosing, continuous level sensors for measuring the amount of odorant in the storage tank, control unit and injection equipment with check valves and sintered-glass filters. The delivery includes a drip free device for pumping odorant from 200 l transport drums using nitrogen. OD 4 control unit is placed on a mobile rack. The station can be transported on a trailer behind a car.

Odorization station COS AN, COS C

Odorization station is delivered with stainless steel cabinets or without stainless steel cabinets with the possibility of placing in a building. The odorization station is equipped with one or two DC 041 dosing pumps with dose control sensor, sintered-glass filter, 250 l storage tank with 300 l sump pit, a control unit, continuous level sensors for measuring the amount of odorant in the storage tank, liquid seal and adsorption apparatus with active carbon for capturing the smell of the odorant, optical position indicator for checking the odorant dosing and injection equipment with check valves and sintered-glass filters. The delivery includes a drip free device for the pumping odorant from 200 l transport drums by pressurized nitrogen.

The odorization station is delivered in the following options:
- COS AN 1  – design with one dosing pump for one output
- COS AN 2  – design with two dosing pumps in tandem for one output
- COS AN 11 – design with two dosing pumps for two outputs
- COS C 1 – design with one dosing pump for one output
- COS C 2 – design with two dosing pumps in tandem for one output
- COS C 11 – design with two dosing pumps for two outputs

OD 4 control units are usually installed on station's casing (AN station type) or in the area without a risk of flammable gases and vapors explosion (C type).

Another 250 l storage tank in a similar cabinet can be added to the station to increase the odorant supply to 500 l. The storage tanks and sump pits are permanently interconnected

Odorization station COS B 2

Odorization station B is equipped with DC 041 dosing pumps with dose control sensor, 900 l storage tank with 1000 l sump pit, liquid seal and adsorption apparatus with active carbon for capturing the smell of the odorant, vents with detonation flame arresters, optical position indicator for checking the odorant dosing, continuous level sensors for measuring the amount of odorant in the storage tank, control unit and injection equipment with check valves and sintered-glass filters. The delivery includes a drip free device for the pumping odorant from 200 l transport drums by pressurized nitrogen.
The station is designed for interior location, usually in separate room in the regulation station building or in a prefab house. The control unit OD 4 type is placed in the regulation and measurement room, or under a shelter at the outer wall of the object, in an environment without explosion risk.

The odorization station is supplied in the following options, depending on operational needs:
B 2 – the station is equipped with a tandem of 2 dosing pumps for one output

  • B 21 – the station is equipped with a tandem of 2 dosing pumps for one output and one
    pump for the other output
  • B 22 – the station is equipped with a tandem of 2 dosing pumps for one output and a tandem of 2 dosing pumps for the other output
  • B 221 – the station is equipped with a tandem of 2 dosing pumps for one output and a tandem of 2 dosing pumps for the other output and one pump for the third output
  • B 222 – the station is equipped with a tandem of 2 dosing pumps for one output

OD 4 Control Unit

The OD 4 control unit is intended for controlling DC 041 and DC 06 dosing pumps and for controlling all types of odorization stations. It enables both local and remote setup of the required dosing, transmission of information about odorization station operation including signaling of faults and information about fluid quantity in the storage tank. OD 4 enables tandem connection of two DC 041 pumps when both pumps supply double volume into a single output. They are installed directly on the side of the odorization station's casing or anywhere within the space without risk of flammable gases and vapors explosion.

Methanol and ethanol injection units

INJECTION UNIT MH 06

Injection Unit MH 06 has been designed for injecting methanol or ethanol into gas pipelines during gas withdrawal from or injection into gas storage facilities to prevent the freezing of water vapour and carbohydrates at low temperatures. It is made of corrosion resistant steel, including the sump pit and roofing, and intended to be placed directly at a production well, without the necessity to make any construction alterations.
The unit is equipped with a dosing pump VT 1P 25, which allows the injection of up to 12.5 liters per hour at pressure up to 25 Mpa. On the output, the pump is fitted with a dose sensor, pressure gauge, relief valve and an injection device at the production tree.
The storage tank is fi tted with vents with detonation flame arresters, bypass level indicator and continuous level measurement. The filler can be fitted with drip free connection for filling from tank trucks.
Control unit MH 6 is used for local and remote control and for regulating and checking the injection. The unit can be fitted with up to three dosing pumps for injection into several adjacent production wells. Pictured is a unit equipped with one dosing pump.

INJECTION UNIT MH 03

Injection Unit MH 03 has been designed for injecting methanol or ethanol into gas pipelines during gas withdrawal from or injection into gas storage facilities to prevent the freezing of water vapour and carbohydrates at low temperatures due to pressure changes.
The storage tank and sump pit are made of stainless steel. The unit has no roof and is intended to be placed in a house with the production well technology.
The unit is equipped with a dosing pump DC 041, design DC 041 MH, which allows the injection of up to 2.28 liters per hour at pressures up to 6.4 Mpa. On the output, the pump is fitted with a dose sensor and two injection devices for injection before and after the pressure regulator.
The storage tank is fitted with optical position indicator for the pumps settings and batch control, vents with detonation flame arresters, bypass level indicator and continuous or limit level measurement. The filler can be fitted with drip free connection for filling from tank trucks.
Control unit OD 4, design OD 4 MH is used for local and remote control and for regulating and checking the injection.
The unit can be fitted with up to three dosing pumps for injection into several adjacent production wells.

Dosing pump and control units for methanol and ethanol injection units

High Pressure Dosing Pump VT 1P 25

The pump is designed for dispensing of low viscosity fluids at high pressures of up to 25 MPa. Its special application is the dosage of ethanol or methanol into gas pipeline. It is a plunger pump, designed for use in potentially explosive atmospheres with flammable gases and vapours – Zone 2.
Control unit MH 06 can be supplied or the pump control, which controls dosing within the range of 0.4 to 12.5 l/hour by 0.1 litre step by change of time interval between the doses.

The Control Unit MH 06

The Control Unit MH 06 is designed for local and remote control of methanol injection units fitted with  VT 1P 25 dosing pumps. It allows for setting of the desired dosing, transmitting information on the unit operation including alarm and fault signalling and information on the supply of the media in the tank. The unit is placed in an area without the danger of explosion of combustible gases and vapours.

HORIZONTAL CABLE PLOWS PZ 65 AND PZ 200

Piercing equipment PZ-200/PZ-65 is used for horizontal trenchless laying of pipes, cables and similar technologies by piercing the soil. When using this technology, the soil is not removed, but compressed, while a bore is being created by a tool pressed into the soil. After the working shaft (65 mm) has been made, the bore in the soil can be enlarged while retracting the rods and, at the same time, the pipe can be inserted in the bore.

The technology of soil piercing can be used in plastic and compressible soils. It cannot be applied in rocks.

SETTING OF GAS LEAK LOCALIZATION DEVICE NZ1

It is a complex “mobile station” used for the boring of probing shafts for the purpose of locating of gas leaks in roads and other paved surfaces. The power units of the carriagecan be used independently, for instance as a generator, compressor or a hammer drill.

LPE Pipe Compression Equipment STOP 2590

STOP 2590 compression equipment is a mechanical unit enabling temporary interruption of gas flow through PE gas pipelines and gas service connections for the purpose of necessary repairs. The pipeline is shut down by its compression.

Gas flow is restored thanks to visco-elastic properties of the pipe material. Rounding device ensures sufficient calibration of the pipeline.
